Say It With Video: WhatsApp’s New Feature Brings Your Chats to Life

WhatsApp, the hugely popular messaging app owned by Mark Zuckberg’s Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META), has just announced a new feature that promises to enhance how users communicate. Building on the success of its voice messages, WhatsApp is now introducing Instant Video Messages, a feature that allows users to record and share personal videos directly in their chats.

Voice messages have revolutionized communication on WhatsApp by offering a quick, secure, and convenient way to share thoughts and feelings. With the introduction of instant video messages, WhatsApp is taking this a step further. This feature allows users to respond to chats in real-time with personal videos, capturing all the emotion and spontaneity of the moment.

Whether wishing someone a happy birthday, sharing a laugh over a joke, or delivering good news, instant video messages offer a fun and engaging way to connect. These messages, limited to 60 seconds, provide enough time to convey a meaningful message while keeping the conversation dynamic and engaging.

Using this feature is as straightforward as sending a voice message. Users switch to video mode and hold to record the video. For hands-free recording, users can swipe up to lock the recording. Videos play automatically on mute when opened in a chat, and tapping on the video activates the sound, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience.

As with all WhatsApp features, security is a top priority. Instant video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring that only the sender and receiver can view the content.

WhatsApp has already started rolling out this new feature, and it will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
