Apple’s Third-Party Developers Already Showing Off Vision Pro Versions of Their Apps

In a groundbreaking move that’s set to redefine the tech landscape, Apple has announced the release of new software tools for its first-ever spatial computer, the Apple Vision Pro. This innovative device, powered by visionOS – the world’s first spatial operating system, is poised to revolutionize how users interact with digital content in their physical environment.

The newly available visionOS software development kit (SDK) opens up a new realm of possibilities for app development. This technology enables developers to create spatial computing apps that merge digital content with the physical world, creating a seamless user experience. This leap forward in technology has the potential to revolutionize various sectors, including gaming, design, and productivity, by offering an entirely new way to engage with digital content.

To support developers in this new venture, Apple is launching developer labs in several global locations next month. These labs aim to provide hands-on experience and support for developers to test their apps on the Apple Vision Pro hardware. This move is a clear indication of Apple’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting its developer community.

In addition, developer kits will be available for teams to fast-track the building and testing process on the Vision Pro. These kits are expected to be a game-changer, allowing developers to quickly iterate and refine their apps, thereby accelerating the pace of innovation in spatial computing.

The visionOS SDK leverages the powerful capabilities of Vision Pro and visionOS, enabling developers to design unique app experiences. Developers can use familiar foundational frameworks from other Apple platforms, such as Xcode, SwiftUI, RealityKit, ARKit, and TestFlight. These tools will facilitate the creation of immersive apps that range from windows showcasing 3D content to fully immersive environments.

The visionOS SDK, updated Xcode, Simulator, and Reality Composer Pro are available for Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com.
