Garmin, the well-known GPS technology company, has announced the launch of its Epix Pro Series, marking a new chapter in the evolution of GPS smartwatches. The series, which includes a high-definition AMOLED display, a rugged design, and a battery life that can last up to 31 days, aims to set a new standard in the smartwatch market.
The Epix Pro Series has a range of health monitoring and fitness metrics features designed to help users maintain an active lifestyle. The series offers three size options – 42mm, 47mm, and 51mm – and each model includes a built-in LED flashlight, adding to its versatility.
The new series introduces several innovative features. These include a built-in LED flashlight with variable intensities and a strobe mode for enhanced visibility during dark training sessions. Another notable feature is the Red Shift Mode, which changes display colors to shades of red, potentially helping users acclimate to darker conditions and reduce sleep cycle disturbance.
The series also includes various preloaded activities, such as soccer, basketball, racquet sports, and horseback riding. Advanced training features like hill and endurance scores provide a better understanding of fitness levels. The Up Ahead feature allows runners to see certain points of interest, like aid stations, right on a map, providing a better understanding of what lies ahead.
The Epix Pro Series is designed for 24/7 wear, combining a resilient athletic design with premium materials like sapphire and titanium. The smartwatches are compatible with various metal, leather, nylon, and silicone QuickFit™ bands, making them suitable for both the gym and the boardroom.
The series includes dozens of built-in sports apps, providing data and insights for a wide range of activities. It also includes advanced health and wellness tools and a suite of smart features to keep users connected on the go. Users can receive smart notifications, download songs from Spotify®, Deezer or Amazon Music for phone-free listening, and make contactless payments with Garmin Pay™.
The Epix Pro Series is also equipped with premium mapping features to help explorers stay on track. SatIQ™ technology and multi-band signal reception combined with multi-GNSS provide superior positioning accuracy in challenging environments, optimizing battery life.
The Epix Pro Series is available in standard and Sapphire Editions, with prices starting at $899.99.
